You may see strangers exchanging glances with each other. The purpose of this shoot was to explore 'desire' at first sight. The time you make eye-contact with a stranger that intrigues you, sharing just that moment between you two.
We used as reference the Self-Portrait with Thorn Necklace and Hummingbird is a 1940 painting by Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. Kahlo painted the self-portrait after her divorce from Diego Rivera and the end of her affair with photographer Nickolas Muray.
We wanted to replicate this with the golden chain as roots coming from her neck by simulating stop-motion and progressively adding more and more layers of movements, chains, heavy loaded clothes and hard-edged makeup.
